AlphaCut Editing Complete Mastery Part 1: Thumbnail - Text Style, Layout Settings, Image Upload Design Guide

Just because AI made the video in a flash doesn't mean it's finished. Now, 'your own sense of style' it's time to add it and boost your views.

Starting today, we are launching a 4-part series that dives deep into AlphaCut's editing features, <Mastering AlphaCut Editing> series.

  • Part 1: Visuals & Design (Text, layout) 👈 Today's topic!
  • Part 2: Cut Editing & Pacing (timeline, silence removal, playback speed)
  • Part 3: Auto Captions (Using AI captions and styling)
  • Part 4: AI hooking (Highlights, AI narration)

In this first session, we'll look at Visuals & Design editing, which determines the overall 'look' of your video.

1. 'Text' Editing Guide

Shorts titles, channel names, original video titles. You can edit the text on the screen as easily and intuitively as using PowerPoint.

① Moving and Editing Content

  • Move: Click and hold the text box on the Shorts screen (preview) with your mouse, drag it, and drop it where you want.
  • Enter Content: Double-click the text box to edit the content directly.

② Styling (Right Panel)

You can set the text style in the right panel.

  • Fonts: A variety of free fonts are available, and Pro plan users can upload and use 'custom fonts.'
  • Color & Decoration: Improve readability by changing the text color, background color, and text border color.
  • Spacing: Fine-tune line and letter spacing to enhance the visual aesthetics of the text.

💡 Tip: Editing only the text you want to emphasize

Inside the text box, try dragging only specific words with your mouse. You can do more than just change the overall color; you can add highlights to important keywords in red or yellow.(e.g., In "Secret to making Shorts views skyrocket," highlight 'skyrocket' in red)

2. 'layout' Settings for Better Immersion

To fit a wide original video beautifully into a vertical screen (Shorts), placement is key.

  • Free Transformation: You can zoom in/out or move the position by dragging the corners of the video box. Adjust it to fit your intent, such as filling the frame with a person or showing the entire landscape.
  • Select Aspect Ratio: 16:9, 4:3, 3:4You can also fit it to your desired ratio all at once.
  • Dual layout
    • You can split the Shorts screen into top and bottom sections and arrange them to show different areas of the video.
    • Choose from 50:50 (even split), 30:70 (bottom emphasis), or 70:30 (top emphasis).
    • Reaction videos, game + cam, lecture videos, etc., can be used for various purposes.
    • You can click the top and bottom frames separately to zoom and adjust positions independently.
  • Different layout for Each Segment
    • After dividing the video into several segments using the cut editing feature, you can apply a different layout to each segment.
    • For example, you can set the intro to 16:9, the main part to a dual layout, and the outro to 1:1. Select a segment and adjust it to the desired layout.
    • Make sure to uncheck the 'Apply to All' box in the 'layout settings' to apply different layouts to each segment!
  • Check dead zone: At the bottom of the layout panel, [Show dead zone], [Show YouTube layout] buttons. This will display YouTube's 'Like' and 'Comment' button UI. Check and arrange your content so that captions or faces aren't covered by these areas.

3. The Game Changer for First Impressions: 'Elements & Background'

① Adding Elements

You can add four types of elements in AlphaCut!

  • Image: You can add brand logos (YouTube, SOOP, CHZZK, etc.) or upload your own images.
  • Video: effect videos or additional videos that would go well with your Shorts can be uploaded.
  • Audio: music or BGM of your choice can be uploaded and added.
  • Text: Add and place text wherever you want on your Shorts.

For details on setting which segments to show elements in and for how long, please refer to the next [Mastering Editing Part 2]!

② Adding Backgrounds

You can leave it as the default black, fill it with a specific color or glass effect, or upload your own background image.

③ Adding a thumbnail

Think setting a thumbnail for Shorts is hard? It's simple in AlphaCut.

  • [Add thumbnail]Click the tab and upload a high-quality image you've created, and the very first frame (0 seconds) of the Shorts will be replaced with that image.
  • Effect: It acts as the 'signboard' that viewers see first in the Shorts list or just before the video auto-plays.
