Research workflow
Searching YouTube by keyword is easy. Choosing which videos are actually worth benchmarking is harder. A high-view video may simply come from a large channel, while a modest-view video on a small channel may be outperforming its audience size. AlphaCut video search collects keyword results and uses the Alpha Index to surface videos with stronger benchmark value.
Use it as the first step in content research, not just as a search box. Contribution, Performance, and Engagement help separate channel-size effects from real audience response, so you can spot topics, hooks, and formats that deserve closer study.
The Alpha Index combines multiple performance signals instead of treating view count as the whole story. A breakout video from a smaller channel can be more useful to study than an average result from a much larger channel.
Use the score to narrow the list, then inspect the title, first five seconds, thumbnail, length, and comment response. The number helps you choose candidates; the creative insight comes from the structure of the video.
YouTube search is optimized for viewers. Creators still need to re-rank results by channel size, publish date, engagement, and whether the video is Shorts or long-form.
AlphaCut video search puts creator-oriented metrics next to the results, making it easier to find comparable videos rather than only popular ones.
When you find promising candidates, record title patterns, opening hooks, edit structure, and repeated questions in the comments. A cluster of videos around one keyword often reveals the format viewers expect.
If you plan to repurpose your own footage into Shorts, continue from the research list into trimming, cropping, and compression so the final asset matches the idea you found.
